The Grove City Arts Council meets the third Tuesday of each month at the Grove City Welcome Center and Museum, located at 3378 Park Street, Grove City Ohio. Meetings begin at 6:30 p.m.
A Little History
Grove City Arts Council has been in existence since 1981. It's main focus is raising money to provide scholarships to Southwestern City High School seniors who will be pursuing a post high school art education. The group has awarded over $35,000 to date to deserving students.
The Council participates in the June Wine & Arts Festival and September's Arts in the Alley art festival held in Grove City each year. Members have an opportunity to show and sell their work, a percentage of which goes toward the scholarship fund. Additionally, the Fine Arts Show at Arts in the Alley festival has been chaired and staffed by arts council members since 2000.
The Council has displayed their work at various galleries in central Ohio as well as festivals. It participates in the Farmer's Market on Summer Saturdays as fundraisers for the scholarship fund. In 2011, the group participated in the first Wine & Arts Festival and has continued to be a presence there. The festival is held the third Saturday in June. We have participated in the annual Grove City EcoFest each August since its inception in 2013.
In 2012, the group began producing an annual calendar as a fundraiser featuring art work produced by Southwestern City Schools high school art students. The cover features the scholarship winner for that year. Calendars are sold from the council's tent at Arts in the Alley each September, are available at Grove City art galleries and through members of the council.
In 2015, GCAC produced an original Endangered Species Coloring Book and donated one to every second grader in the Southwestern City school system.
Currently we are fundraising for a statue to be installed in Breck Community Park.
